Project confidence: Perhaps being you is good enough

I am typing this post whilst siting on my warm, comfy couch,wrapped in a blanket whilst one of my cats is vying for my attention. Outside white flakes of frozen water have been falling down the sky for a good two hours by now. So the world is white and sparkly.

Although we usually go grocery shopping on Saturday’s that is obviously not going to happen today. We have to walk at least 15 minutes to get to the stores (yes *gasp* we do not own a car) and it’s just too risky. I really do not want to fall haha.

So rather than spending my time working on my grocery list or prepping for the grocery haul, I actually have the time to sit down and write a blog post.

I just wanted to apologize for the not so positive post last week, but I only thought it fair to share my downs as well as my ups with you. A lot of my readers as well as friends have told me in the past that they could not imagine how I balance all aspects of my life and look perfect whilst doing it. They told me they wished could do all of that like I did… So, I just thought it would be fair to show them that I actually often struggle to keep all my juggling balls in the air. I suppose this also shows that everyone has their own struggles: even though they may appear perfect to you, they usually are far from it. So I am going to share some advice that I have been trying to implement myself as well:

stop comparing yourself to someone else.

Honestly, your circumstances and personalities are always going to be different. You can never be exactly like them. So why bother? Maybe you are not supposed to be like them. You are you for a reason. Maybe just being you is good enough. And perhaps just trying your best is enough, because no one can expect you to do more.

So when you are working towards a goal you have set for yourself, do not try to get there the way that someone else got there. But do it in a way that works well for you. It does not matter whether your goal is to lose weight, get your degree or just to improve some aspects of yourself. Not everything that has worked for someone else in the past will work for you. So you will just have to discover what does work for you.

Maybe you study best whilst making a summary of the course materials, or perhaps it is enough to just reading through the notes you made. It could be that you need to ban all junk food from your life or that you need to allow yourself a cheat meal once in a while. Maybe you want to get your confidence back by joining a dancing class, or perhaps it is enough to just buy clothes that flatter your figure… Find a way in which you can achieve your goal whilst staying true to yourself. Even if it means thinking outside of the box and being unconventional.

In order to help me to keep this in mind I actually ended up ordering the Winnie the Pooh quote bracelet that I had promised myself if I obtained my goal weight. Since I have been well under 68 kg for over 2 months (whoot I DID IT!) I thought it was about high time I bought it. It did help that there was a sale going on as well though haha.

The bracelet has two really cute, small bangles. One with Winnie the Pooh and one with a little bee. I originally had intended to buy the silver one, but ended up going for the gold one instead as I preferred the Pooh bangle to be gold rather than silver.

The quote (which was basically my reason for buying it) readers: “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think”…. Yep A. A. Milne wrote some deep stuff in his children’s books ;).

I just think it is a lovely reminder to myself that I should not underestimate myself. And also that I should stop comparing myself to others, because I am fine the way I am. <– This is still work in progress, but we are slowly getting there haha. My mom, who always reads my blog posts, is probably thinking: “FINALLY! Girl, I have been trying to get this into your head FOR YEARS! Haha. Sorry mom! I should have known: mother knows best ;).
