I just realized a couple of days ago that it has been a year since I started this blog. On May 14 I wrote my first post proclaiming my intention of shedding some kilo’s I had gained back after a previous weight-loss attempt. When I started the blog I weighed 74,4 kilo’s (11,7 stone or 164 pounds) and really wanted to get back to 71 kilo’s (11,1 stone or 156 pounds).
Well, one year later I am happy to write that I shed those 3,4 kilo’s and more! I am currently even below 68 kg (10,7 stone or 149.9 pounds). Actually, since December I have been mostly under 67 kg.
My loyal readers know that it hasn’t all been plain sailing though. Sometimes I still fall of the bandwagon. However, I am determined to get right back on there, since I have no intention of going back to 70+ kg or more.
So I am sure some of you are wondering about the goals I have for the coming blog year? Well, for one thing I want to keep eating healthy and staying at around 67 kg. So maintaining my weight-loss is definitely going to be a focus point.
My second goal is, …… I honestly never thought I would write this… ever… in my life…. to run a 5k. Yep, the girl who has always hated running and made up every possible excuse to get out from doing it during gym class, decided to pick up running… I am pretty sure that hell just froze over and a flock of pigs few by lol.
My best friend had been going on about wanting to do the Disneyland Paris run, but not having anyone to run with… When she asked me I initially laughed it off. Me, running? The idea! But after much deliberation (think a few months) I decided to join her.
I have never been particularly athletic (understatement of the year), but I really just want to prove to myself that I can do it if I want to. I just want to obliterate the image of myself as the totally unsportsy (is that even a word?) dork. That’s not the only reason though. Over the past few months I have been thinking of setting myself a new fitness goal and running seemed to be the easiest to incorporate into my already (sometimes insanely) busy schedule. My trusty readers know I picked up swimming a couple of months ago, but I had to stop doing this as it cut into my day too much. I had to get to the pool, get changed, swim for an hour, get back home, recuperate (cause I was usually exhausted after this ß yeay from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)… And before I knew it, it was around 3 o’clock and I had literally not been able to get anything done. So running seems like an easier option as I can just do that whenever I want (read: in the morning, when it’s dark and no one can see me 😝)
And besides, what better reward could there possibly be for my hard work than actually running my first 5k in Disneyland?! You even get a Disney themed medal for joining. Yes, as a massive Disney fan I am super excited about this.
So I have asked mom and dad for running shoes for my birthday. Proper running shoes are pretty expensive, and since I have orthopaedics I really need to get the good stuff… If I don’t I am going to be in a whoooollleee lot of pain. As my birthday is in September I plan to start training at around that time. That will give me one year to train for the 5k, which honestly should be more than enough.
So yes, I have now proclaimed it to the world so I am actually going to have to do it haha.
Before I end this blog post I just really want to thank my trusty readers (you know who you are!) for always reading my blogs and sticking with me for a whole year now! Really I cannot thank you guys enough and only hope you will stick around for the coming year.
Sending you lots of love,
